Good morning. Happy St Patrick's Day! (Officially in the Catholic Church, the feast of St Patrick is "suppressed" in favor in the Fifth Sunday of Lent). There were parades in some towns yesterday, including in the Columbus suburb of Dublin, which leans into its Irish name but otherwise has no connection with the Emerald Isle or its people.

Temperatures in the 50s, sunny but with a brisk wind.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all. Instead of drinking green beer today I'll be contemplating the greening of the grass at my place due to the lack of winter weather and thinking about just how soon I'll probably be having to mow the dad-blamed stuff.

Good morning all.

I heard this live last night and thought of you all - there are several ways to appreciate this song.

Josh Goforth sings "The Hard Way." It starts at 2:08. Enjoy.

Good morning, everyone. A nice time was had at the St. Patrick's Day train ride. My husband and I were seated with a pleasant couple just a little older than ourselves who were very interested in trains and local tourism opportunities.

Just got an email from meeting about the tornado. It ripped through the county northwest of us, slamming Winchester (Winchester is about a 50 minute drive from me, 20 minutes east of Muncie, 30 minutes west of Greenville, OH). The local Wal-Mart (the only grocery in town) lost its freezers so no meat/dairy/etc. Two churches destroyed, Taco Bell leveled, several homes damaged, power outages, etc.

I was discussing doing a guest sermon in one of the Winchester area churches, but that's on hold for now.

My youngest decided to play golf yesterday afternoon, after classes. He swung by the house afterwards, then hung out for an hour. When Katie got home he asked for a haircut. She rolled her eyes, but agreed to do it (she cut mine earlier this week).

He wanted a bit of a lower shave, more "fluffy" around the top. I'd call it a bowl haircut that's been blowdried out. He'd take pictures of the back of his head, before asking Katie to video it, so he could observe. She rolled her eyes at that. She pretended to be annoyed, but she loved having him home.

We chatted about St Patrick's day weekend. He wants to experience a block party. I gave him advice, letting him know Dayton police are unhappy with UD for not sending students home over St Patrick's day. They'll look to arrest some students, just to make a point. He gets that, and understands an arrest will look back on his future PA/Med school app. I pointed out 4-5 things they can arrest students for, and he was surprised by about 3 of them (he had never heard of the open container law).

Good morning, everyone. Cloudy and pretty warm here. I listened to the Ruminant and cleaned the stove, as is traditional.

So good. There are some bands that have longevity, and there are some bands that have longevity and still sound fresh. Asleep at the Wheel is one of the latter.

Good morning. Just above freezing here. "Asleep at the Wheel" has been around at least since I was in college, back during the Carter administration.

I tried posting yesterday about the Thursday night storms but the site was down for a bit. And I know more today.

The thunderstorms and at least 6 tornados that went through western and northern Ohio Thursday evening resulted in 3 deaths and at least 25 injured, mostly in the communities around Indian Lake, which was hit by an EF-3 tornado. The 3 deaths all occurred in a mobile home park — a bad place to be during a tornado. This area in Logan County northwest of had widespread property damage, with many rendered homeless. Elsewhere high tension power transmission lines were downed, cutting power to thousands (fortunately not us).

We all have our characteristic natural disasters. Vermont gets lots of snow. My Louisiana in-laws have to dodge hurricanes every decade or so. I hear sometimes the earth moves in California.

"Western swing isn't dead ... it's just Asleep at the Wheel!"

Big fan for many years.
