I just saw this headline in Time: "Trump Delivers Bitter Speech Filled With Falsehoods in New Hampshire". Aside from the fact that there is a paywall, I will not break my own rule and read more than a headline about him. I do wonder when it will be, or if it is time, to stop reporting on him lying, for even those reports feed the beast. Must we wait for him to self-destruct or be sentenced to jail? If no one wants to devote even a moment to him and therefore not comment, I'll fully understand. I write even this with some hesitation.

As you are pleased with Substack, so I am pleased with CSLF. Worth every darned penny I spend on it. A bargain at even twice the price.

Sorry not sorry.

I am doing nothing I don't have to and just going to rest and do some fun things.

Okay, I'm gonna confess that when I see headlines, they sometimes seem like the story might be entertaining so I click. This was at realclearpolitics, which aggregates a lot of content, both left leaning and right leaning. I am unsure how to categorize their Pisa coverage, however.

Don't worry, it is sciency, not porn. It might actually make an interesting TSAF, as Science magazine calls the Greenland shark the oldest vertebrate animal, some are more than 400 years old. Normally this is where I would joke about the sad WH news that the greenland shark Biden acquired as a child finally died, after a good long life. Or I might state this is the real reason Trump wanted to buy Greenland....

Stacking subs. My mind immediately went to the Subway sandwich store I used to go to now and then. Well, not now, but then.

I really enjoy Andrew Sullivan and his “Weekly Dish” Substack but recently he made the decision to put part of his podcasts behind a paywall. I relented and subscribed because I prefer the spoken to the written word much of the time because it allows me to multitask. I didn’t particularly like that strong arm tactic.

Happy Saturday! I got one of those Cricut cutting machines for Christmas, and I’ve managed to cut out two cards now. I wanted to use it for cutting out painted watercolor paper, and still haven’t tried that, but I cannot believe all the things people create! It’s like 3D scrapbooking and beyond! That’s not going to be me, however. I’m almost done with a watercolor painting of a rose, which is turning out better than I expected. And, I’m also working on a watercolor journal. Anyway, after a little house cleaning, it’s hobby time!

Marque, thank you!!!!! This is the best online group I’ve ever had the pleasure of joining. I remember when you first started it, and I was confused about what it was and how it worked. Angela helped me, thank goodness. (I hope all is well with her.) The camaraderie alone is exceptional, and then you create a fun, often thought provoking blog each morning. It’s easy to read, and I’ve learned quite a bit, too. ❤️

And now for some good gnus. Here's a quote from Brett Kavanaugh on his colleagues

“You can't talk about work at lunch. So, you talk about the things that you would talk about with your friends. You talk about your kids, you talk about movies, you talk about books, you talk about war stories … again and again,” Kavanaugh told a group of law students while speaking at the Notre Dame Law school.

The conservative justice went on to praise his liberal colleague, Ketanji Jackson Brown, saying that she is "off to a great start" and is "thoroughly prepared.”

Kavanaugh also praised the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and retired Justice Stephen Breyer for welcoming him to the court after facing allegations of sexual misconduct and assault, which Republicans argued was a “sham.”

The evolution of the CSLF has been enjoyable enough that, while I read TMD every morning, I now never read the comments. I miss some people, but all in all, most of the folks with whom I badinaged (I know, I know) I can now find here.

Skiing was good this week, but now its the weekend and there are too many people for me to hit the slopes. The golf course here, because its on a mountain, has really great hilly terrain. Snowshoeing is the order of the day.

Good morning. I clicked Pledge your support to see what would happen. It seems to be a function that sets a subscriber up to pay IF the writer decides to charge.

I don't mind the idea of affirming, "Sure, I'd pay $8/mo for badinage with friends, if it came to that," but I don't like the conditional payment linked to my credit card.
