Things I didn’t learn in school: When you begin a formal letter to someone you don’t know, the correct salutation (at least in the U.K. system) is: “Dear Sir or Madam:” The correct closing is “Yours Faithfully,” two lines above the signature. A formal letter to someone whose name you know has the person’s name in the salutation in place of “Sir or Madam”. The correct closing is then “Yours Sincerely,” two lines above the signature.
Always address to impress.
You learn something new every day.
I mean, I don't usually write letters, but it's helpful to know.
Morning all. My husband and I watched Bye Bye Birdie last night. It had its moments.
