This was a weird story. The fact that it came from Fox News does not make it any less plausible. For one, it doesn’t seem to come with any mention of FNC’s favorite villains. For another, it appears to be happening most drastically in Atlanta.
Atlanta is facing a squatting crisis worse than any other metro area in the country, with around 1,200 homes being taken over, according to the National Rental Home Council trade group. Homeowners have few options to reclaim their property from unwanted residents as local law enforcement are bound by tenant rights laws. Pursuing a civil case can take many months.
Criminals are using squatters’ rights to occupy uninhabited residences and turn them into hubs of, well, weirdness, and sometimes criminal activity. The story mentions California as one center, and Atlanta, Georgia, as another. The headline grabs your attention, but the underlying story is even more confounding, told by a handyman who has come up with a partial solution after seeing his mother duped by the squatters.
The story includes some tips on reclaiming your home when it’s overrun by vagrants. Forget lawyers and courts: they take too long. Forget the police: ditto, plus they probably don’t have jurisdiction. Instead, get sneaky with scam paperwork. So: news you can use.
The German boys and Dyslexics were 13th, which isn't bad, but indicates that either they could have studied harder or they had difficulty understanding questions. Oh, well. D made a new friend, a girl from a team in another county, and maybe they can play Minecraft online some time.
Today is voting day, so I'll leave the office early, and go vote! Voting for Nikki as POTUS (yes, it's a protest vote, but since she's on the ballot), Dolan over Moreno and la Rosa, and then many locals.
