Reporting for the Kyiv Post, Jason Jay Smart interviewed Dr. Andrei Illarionov, an early policy advisor to Vladimir Putin. They talked about Putin and his world view, as well as what many in the West have misjudged about how he thinks. They also engaged in a bit of Kremlinology about who Putin’s inner circle encompasses.

It’s a piece of the puzzle in trying to figure out what motivates Putin, since the entirety of Russian governance revolves around the one very isolated individual.

There seems to be a lot of consistency.
