If only there were a way to embed an X-Twitter item here, but alas: the Musk-Substack grudge runs deep!
In a video tweet, Australian political commentator Drew Pavlou examines his local supermarket under application of the Tucker Carlson standard and determines that what he sees gives adequate license for Australia to invade New Zealand forthwith.
Hat tip to the Garry Kasparov Twitter/X feed, who said of the effort—and I quote liberally: “😂”.
Here’s a screen grab:
To reiterate: 😂 !
In this evening's G-File, Jonah gave us a heads-up that he will appear tomorrow morning on Chris Wallace's program. I posted a thank-you, and set my DVR.
But separately, he made another error with the plural of peoples. I noted his apparent efforts to get his usage right, but in this case, no apostrophe at all is correct.
When I saw the "Two year Ukrainian war anniversary" topic for TMD, I almost didn't click on it. Whenever I share my views on our Ukrainian policy, the crazies come out of the woodwork.
I glanced through the comments, and I couldn't go more than a screen or two, they were filled with vitriol and hatred of Trump/MAGA/Republicans.
For those who are not aware, I oppose our current policy, as it merely prolongs Ukraine's defeat, and leads to more death and destruction. I recommended sending in US troops in Spring 2022, as the only way to repel the Russians. Alternatively, I've argued that merely sending in arms makes this a war of attrition. Ukraine cannot win a war of attrition. All-in or All-out would have saved lives, less destruction.
Yet like Virginians swept with Romanticism just after the shelling of Ft Sumter, the commenters there believe the patriotic Ukrainians will succeed, because, well, they are fighting for something noble. It's romanticism writ large by people who will not suffer the consequences of it.
