Times like these make it embarrassing enough to be an American, let alone a North American—maybe even a human being. Times like these, everybody wants to be a cat:

This group also did a nice job with Thelonius Monk’s “Well You Needn’t”.
As they report in their own video description, the lyrics to the tune came nearly 50 years after Monk first performed it. While they aren’t particularly striking, as is often the case with jazz vocals added later, they allow vocalists to participate, or at least give them something to do.
Rrrrrrrrr.
I posted a question about a word that really didn't make sense on Dispatch Politics yesterday ("Democrats Win Back the Santos Seat"), and it ought to have made sense, given my ability to figure out what something was supposed to say. Mr. Drucker replied to my reply, informing me that everyone is sposta know that meaning. Well, I don't think so. I have enough copyediting experience that I have a good sense of where to draw the line between inside jargon and regular English. Maybe their editors (he says at least two of them exist) don't. Or maybe he was really taking umbrage at my pointing out that Washington's Birthday is the 22nd.
Good day to all! I am off to light the forge and hope to get a little hammer time in before I have to leave to visit my mom. She's not doing well but doesn't remember a good part of the time.
