Olympic squirrels
Courtesy of commenter M. Trosino, today we get to meet a man who has achieved internet fame by challenging the squirrels who used to pilfer his backyard bird feeders. In the process, he learned a lot about how flexible squirrels are when it comes to overcoming obstacles. He learned a lot about how well squirrels do at learning. And the viewers learn a lot about how much time, money, and effort a person can put into challenging the backyard wildlife: plenty!
The first version version was posted two years ago and has over 100 million views:
The second and third videos are much, much more extravagant than even that one: Squirrel Maze 2.0 and Squirrel Maze 3.0. To call them spectacular is almost an injustice. Version 3.0 even includes the narrative voice of late-night talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel.
The squirrel tester, Mark Rober, runs a business that provides engineering project kits for kids and the young at heart. He has previously worked at NASA and Apple Inc. As the squirrel maze videos demonstrate, Mark has captured the creative promise and inspirational nature of the internet. This young man has promise.
I didn’t know there was a version 3! Thank you for this. I love these videos.
Okay, I gotta confess, I started up the push mower yesterday. I mowed about a 50 square foot strip adjacent the screen room. I had uncovered the pellet grill, and saw a mass of leaves. So I blew them into the yard.
And hated it.
So I popped a battery in the push mower, and mulched the leaves.
I may fire up the ZTR Thursday, on account of rain Saturday and Sunday. Our yard is startin' to grow already! By April it might be tall grass! 😱
Why do I have a ZTR? I inherited it from my FIL's estate. My wife noticed the youngest actually enjoys mowing with it, so she claimed it last year.
