French dance
After ending the workweek on a rough note, it’s time for something different. Thus, looking to France, we find someone’s been busy working on the swing dance choreography to accompany Benny Goodman’s Sing Sing Sing:
Nicely done.
The oldsters make that look tame, though, as demonstrated in this music and lindy hop demonstration from the 1941 film Hellzapoppin’.
Careful where you toss the lasses, fellas!
Which, in turn, might have even had some inspiration from Cab Calloway, although this clip is from Stormy Weather in 1943. (There’s an earlier version from 1932, but it’s mostly within a Betty Boop cartoon.)
I forgot to mention, I love those outfits the women had on
I miss fancy dresses and hats..sigh
WOW, I loved those slips, great way to start my day...( yes, it is late, I was up pretty late and then the time change...lol). I love to dance , I love to watch experts dance, the dancing in movies that is choreographed always has me spellbound.
I actually ( don't laugh ,remember I was a clutz athletically) took a PE class( at that time it was mandatory even in college, three semesters, I took badminton and bowling for the other two...lol..I thought I escaped it when I graduated HS....)...a classic dances class, it was a lot of fun, learned the cha cha, rhumba, tango, some swing which is my favorite, and a few others. Only problem was that as is often the case with dancing, there weren't many men in the class and we girls had to dance with each other...sigh...lol...my dad taught me how to waltz, he was a good dancer, and he was the only man I have ever danced with that knew how to lead...lol
I am a pretty good ( or at least I was, til old age pains started up...lol) dancer... have a good sense of beat/rhythm, and am very enthusiastic...my friend and HS and I actually made up a few dances of own to do at the dance clubs/parties. I really enjoy it.
I have a lunch date with my BFF from HS today and looking forward to that...
And Bon Jour to everyone!
PS: Not to imply am nowhere near as good as those people in the videos...lol
